  ABA (Annualized Base Amount) Computations

Definition: The ABA is the maximum amount the employee would receive for the designated position if he/she were to work full-time (1.0 FTE) for the full year (12 months). Each employee can have only one ABA on the database at a time. Not included in the ABA is Clinical Incentive Pay, Additional Compensation, Compensation for Extended Day Classes, etc. which is not part of their normal salary. ABA does not include consulting, fellowships and scholarships, etc.

Note: The ABA will be automatically updated daily by the system and it will no longer be entered via an ePAF.

The system will use the following calculations to derive the ABA for an employee:

Faculty Contract:Compensation Rate  *  12
 FTE  N      N = contract months
Salaried Employee Paid on Annual Basis:Compensation Rate
 FTE
Hourly Employee:Compensation Rate * Standard Compensation Hours in the Year
